Therapy Services

Individual Therapy

I provide 50 to 120 minute therapy sessions for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, past trauma, addiction, relationship issues, grief and loss, life transitions and emotional issues. I use specific techniques to help guide the therapeutic process so we can identify the internal emotional struggles that have been causing you pain and suffering. We will create a safe space for you to process your emotions so that you can experience relief and clarity in your life.

Couple Therapy

I Provide 50 to 120 minute therapy sessions for couples using two approaches called Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and ISTDP Informed Couple therapy. The underlying roots of both of these approaches stem from attachment theory, which believes that human beings are innately relational, social and wired for intimate bonding with others. This bonding process occurs with our care givers when we are infants and allows for us to develop a sense of safety and security in our relationships. This attachment is wired into us, and transfer to our adult love relationships later in life. In distressed relationships, people begin to experience their spouse, partner, or caregiver as emotionally disconnected, unavailable or overly critical. Often times, this will lead to difficulty expressing our vulnerable emotions to one another, such as anger, love and sadness, which can then lead to negative patterns and isolation in the relationship.

Together in therapy, we can create new ways of seeking closeness in your relationship. By creating new secure emotional bonds you can experience increased healthy communication, vulnerability, and a deeper understanding of your partner’s needs and your own. We will look at the different coping mechanisms that are used in the relationship and how anxiety functions in the body for each of you. By having a deeper understanding of these mechanisms and anxiety, you can have more clarity and understanding as to why your partner does and says certain things when you are in conflict. With these structured therapy models, you can find new ways of relating to each other so that the two of you can be more emotionally accessible, responsive and engaged. The research of these approaches have been shown to work effectively with a variety of diverse couples experiencing past infidelity, depression, trauma, parenting conflicts, and grief and loss.

Family Therapy

I work with families, with adult children, who struggle with unprocessed feelings, communication issues, and healthy boundary setting. Through therapy, we will explore the interpersonal issues that are creating distance and misunderstandings in the family. Each member will have space and time to process their feelings and the hopes they have for their relationships with one another. If your family is struggling with mental illness, addiction or a big loss, we can work towards creating meaning and understanding in your lives and develop healthy tools for better communication.

Fees

My fee for therapy is $165 for 50-minutes. Additional time is prorated based on this fee (e.g. 75 minutes is $230 and 90 minutes would be $285). Some people prefer 50 minutes weekly, whereas another option can be 90 minutes bi-weekly to better accommodate personal needs. We can consult on what option works best for you.

I do offer a sliding-scale based on availability. During the time of consultation, we can discuss your eligibility and my openings for this option.

Insurance

I am an out-of-network provider, which means that I do not directly accept insurance. However, many insurance providers will reimburse you for a portion of the cost, depending on your plan and provider. In that case I can provide you with a “super bill” which you would submit to your insurance company and then they would reimburse you directly.

To see if your plan covers this, you can call your insurance company ahead of time and ask if your plan covers any out-of-network mental health services (individual, couple or family therapy).
